Choosing Love

I posted this on FB last week but wanted to share it here too.

People joke with us about being addicted to adoption or collecting kids. They joke about how we must be crazy to have 6 girls or tell us we need a little bus to haul our crew. We don't mind the comments because most of them really are just teasing, and let's be honest... we are a little crazy. 😄😜
The thing is... we didn't *need* another baby. We are busy. We have our hands full. We're tired. We're getting older. And we *have* outgrown our minivan.
But, Juan... she needed a mommy and daddy. She needed a home and a family. She needed love. And God called us.
We could have said no. We have plenty of excuses. Our lives would have been a bit easier... less chaotic, less crowded, less messy. Yet, our hearts knew she was ours.
Walking through an orphanage is eye-opening and life changing. Their faces... heartbreaking. So many needing families. It's overwhelming. But God. He IS calling families to care for them. So maybe we are crazy, but there's this peace about walking in faithful obedience to Him. A joy that comes with surrendering what we want for what He asks of us. A better understanding of just how much He loves us and cares for us.
God says he knows our hearts. He knows we know. We can't use the excuses. And so, we go.
Is He calling you too?

  1. Congratulations, we are so happy for you and your beautiful family! Adoption is such a hard yet wonderful journey not many understand. People are quick to judge or "tease" but you are doing the right thing. You are making such a difference in the life of that precious child; Family means everything! God bless
