Sunday, May 6th~
We packed, ate breakfast, and headed out of the hotel at 7am. It was time to leave Nanchang and go to Guangzhou. All of the paperwork (Juan's birth certificate with our names as her parents, her abandonment certificate, adoption decree, and passport) was in our hands and ready for us to finish the US side of the adoption in Guangzhou where the US consulate there processes all of the visas for adoption. As we were driving to the train station, we passed a large, modern stadium. I asked our guide what sport is played there. She said, "Several but mostly badminton." I wasn't expecting that! It was sad to say good-bye to Shirley again. She's been a wonderful help to us and has watched our family grow twice!
| She is a good sleeper and usually takes a morning nap & afternoon nap. |
| Headed down to our train on the right. It was a high speed train, reaching 186mph! |
| Math homework on the train |
| Brynna showed Juan how to draw. |
| She sweats like Brielle. Little beads of sweat on her face even while she sleeps on a cold train. |
| The train ride was 4.5hours and she fussed for about 1/2 of it. Poor girl. |
She had some quiet, sweet moments too though.
| Dozed off again, thankfully! |
| Arrived in Guangzhou and met our new guide, Lee. She's young and cheerful! |
| Happy girl again! |
It was raining but we decided to walk around looking for food anyway. We found a pizza place but like most places in China, it's not quite what you would expect. We ordered a teriyaki chicken pizza and spaghetti. When our pizza arrived, Brynna said, "Uh, is it supposed to be moving?" The pizza was topped with bonita flakes, very thin slices of dried fish that move as a result of the hot steam from the pizza. It was almost like a mind-trick when looking at the pizza! The pizza was really good though. Alex ate over half of the pizza and I had a slice. The girls stuck to the spaghetti.😉
Since the rain had stopped, we walked around on the side streets near our hotel. We didn't find the ice cream place from our last visit, but the girls found some yummy treats at the 7 Eleven. It wasn't a very exciting day, but it means we are another step closer to home. We miss our other girls so much!
| Pineapple and strawberry, two of her faves! |
| We are staying in a suite at this hotel. The big girls are sleeping on an air mattress in the living room. It's not as luxurious as their private room at the last hotel. 😄 |
