We woke early and walked back by Jackson Square, picking up beignets for breakfast on the way. We waited by the Mississippi River to be picked up for our bayou tour. It was another beautiful, sunny morning!
| The girls had no idea what beignets were but as soon as I explained that it was similar to a funnel cake, Brynna was all in! |
The bayou tour was perfect! The kids had a blast holding the baby alligator and feeding the wild alligators marshmallows. Even Bria took a turn feeding them! The trees and moss in the swamp are really beautiful!
| Her curls ♥♥♥ |
| At one point, my phone came dangerously close to falling out of the boat! That would have been awful! |
| Brynna's turn to feed the alligator. |
We spent the afternoon exploring the Garden District by trolley. While the trolley is cheap and the open windows made for a fun way to see the city, the waiting to get picked up took longer than expected each time. The trolleys get so full that they just keep on going past the stops and you're stuck waiting for the next one...or the one after that.
| Somebody was really tired! |
| Another find from "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" |
We weren't going to miss the opportunity to try their gumbo and red beans & rice!
The big girls weren't fans but my China girls loved the red beans & rice. |
| Had to be sure to get every last crumb. ☺ |
| The homes in the Garden District were beautiful! This was one of my favorites! |
| While we were waiting on the trolley, Beilyn stumbled, scraping up her knee and hand pretty badly. I only had 1 bandaid left, but God blessed us. There was a CVS right across the street from our dessert destination! |
| Showing off her new Superman bandaid! |
| The big girls had Skyscrapers, a mix of vanilla, chocolate, and cookies & cream ice creams with layers of hot fudge, caramel, and oreos! So good!! |
| Last trolley ride, back to the French Quarter. |
| Trying out masks. |
| The ones they ended up buying. |
So long, NOLA! On to our next adventure!
