Out West [Take 2!] - Day 5 {Rio Grande Gorge cont.}

We were up early to catch the sunrise into the gorge. It was the most peaceful, beautiful morning!

Alex's favorites- coffee and sunrise
Biscuits and sausage links as the sun greets us in the valley.
This little cutie had something stuck in her narrowed esophagus again yesterday. We are thankful it passed this morning so we could continue enjoying our trip!

As we were packing up and heading out, a land manager stopped by to say we weren't supposed to be there! Evidently, the lone guy in the truck had pulled back the gate to park inside. It is a first-come-first-serve place where you pay on the honor system by dropping money in a little box so we didn't think much about it that there wasn't an attendant when we arrived yesterday.  The land manager was very nice and even gave us our money back since she couldn't collect it at this time. These are those moments we so often miss in our busy day to day lives, but when we are traveling, we see God's provision and goodness so loud and clear!

We drove on down the scenic route to check out the Taos Junction Bridge and then headed into town. Taos is a really cool area, strongly influenced by the Pueblo Indians who first inhabited the area and by the Spanish explorers who gave Taos its name. It is rich in culture. We walked through the historic plaza, ate lunch, checked out a few art galleries, and then went north to the Rio Grande Bridge, which sits 650 feet above the river.

Beilyn LOVES rocks and minerals. This was a fun stop for her.

There is an Earthship Biotecture community in northern New Mexico. It's a self-sustaining, environmentally-friendly community. It looked like another planet as we drove by. It would have been interesting to take a quick tour, but we went by too late in the afternoon.

There wasn't a sign where we entered New Mexico yesterday, so we stopped on our way out today.
Back in Colorado for a few days.

I did a double take and only confirmed it was me in the green chair because Braylee is in the blue one. 😁

Alex helped Beilyn build a mini-campfire for her LOL dolls and earned the "funnest parent award" in the process. 😀
 We had another great day!
