Northeast Trip 2021 - Days 1 & 2 {PA}

Alex is a planner, by nature and by trade, but Covid has put lots of kinks in his travel plans over the past year, including this one. Thankfully, even with as much as he plans ahead, Alex is also quick to make adjustments when needed.  Last summer, we were going to do an East trip to NYC and DC areas. That obviously wasn't happening!  So, we went out west again.  We debated for a bit on what to do this summer, but when we realized we could spend a few days with cousins in Acadia NP, the decision was easy!  Our plans still changed a few times over the year, including this week when we accepted the fact that Canada wasn't opening their border for us to visit Toronto, but it's fine.  We just adjusted our route home. We also didn't plan to go to NYC right now since Broadway is still closed, but we needed to use the RV park reservations from last year.  Before we knew it, we had 2 full days planned in NYC. 😄

Our first day wasn't much more than packing up and heading out.  We drove about 5.5 hrs and boondocked at a Cracker Barrel in Ohio.

Day 2- The fun of camping overnight in the Cracker Barrel parking lot is getting take out for breakfast the next morning as you hit the road! Alex (the planner!) keeps our go-to breakfast order in his phone so he can order while we are all still sleeping.  He spoils us. 😊 Our first stop was the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.  It's hard to believe it has been almost 20 years.  The amount of thought put into this memorial is seen in every detail.
The sidewalk is the path the aircraft took overhead.
Notice the teacher's name...
"A common field one day. A field of honor forever."
This is the view from the museum. On the right, the mowed grass path follows the flight path with the boulder at the crash site.
The boulder in the background is the site of impact.
Tower of Voices
Wiped out after just one stop! 😄
BellaMei was without her lovey last night but Aunt Mandi to the rescue! She found Halle Hippo and is bringing her to baby Juan in a few days! 💜

Our next stop was Hershey, Pennsylvania, where the street lights are Kisses!  We toured Hershey's Chocolate World and created our own chocolate bars! They are soo good but will take several attempts to eat all of one because they are so big.
Everyone chose a chocolate base, up to 3 ingredients, and then designed their packaging.
A lot of thought went into their creations. 🥰
Production time!
Brielle helped Alex with his.
We watched a 4D movie.  It was pretty corny but the little girls loved it.  As we exited the movie, the attendant handed each of us a mini Hershey's bar. After he watched all of us leave, he stopped Alex and dumped a whole bunch of them in Alex's bag and said, "I only had boys." 😂
Then we rode a ride explaining how chocolate is made.
Tonight, we are boondocking near Clinton, NJ.
