Northeast Trip - Day 7 {Boston}

Alex's planning and research paid off again. He realized there was a Home Depot right next to the Quincy Adams train station.  Home Depot allows RVs to stay overnight in their parking lots, so we camped out next to the train station last night & hopped on the train this morning to head into the city.

We spent this very warm day in Boston, exploring the city mostly on foot.  Alex and I have walked the entire Freedom Trail in the past, but we just did part of it with the girls today. Braylee and Beilyn were both feeling a bit under the weather today, coupled with the heat made it a little less enjoyable for them but they were such troopers!

Bria's reaction when she realized The Boston Tea Party wasn't quite what she was expecting. 😂
We were disappointed we weren't able to do the interactive tea party museum this time.
Site of Boston Massacre in 1770.
Old State House. The Declaration of Independence was read to Bostonians from the balcony in 1776.
Touring Paul Revere's home.
The Old North Church where Paul Revere had the signal lanterns hung. "One if by land, two if by sea."
We keep seeking out the old restaurants! It was so good! And a great place to cool off for a little bit.
Boston Public Garden. Beilyn is acting like a duck. 😄 We read "Make Way for Ducklings" again last night in preparation for our visit! They loved seeing the garden "in color."
Statue of George Washington.
Make Way for Ducklings!
I doubt anyone is surprised she fed the ducks. 😄
Then we walked around the beautiful, historic Beacon Hill district.
The most photographed street in America - Acorn Street.
It was very much a "just hurry up and take the picture because I don't want to do this" moment.
A stop for the little ones in Boston Common.
Massachusetts State House
Our last stop downtown was the Granary Burial Ground where those listed above are buried, along with John Hannock, Samuel Adams, and up to 5,000 other Bostonians.
Then we took the subway over to Harvard University. The campus is beautiful.
This isn't actually a statue of John Harvard. With "no known likeness" to build from, a Harvard student posed for the statue years after Harvard passed away.
Thankfully, Ruby was still sitting in the Home Depot parking lot by the train station when we returned. We knew they allowed overnight parking but we took a chance with leaving the RV there all day.
We drove north to Winter Island Park in Salem. It's right on the water and had amazing sunset views of boats in the harbor and a lighthouse by Pebble Beach.
Brynna and Alex climbed some rocks along the shore to watch the sunset while I took the other girls to a playground. On our way back to the RV, a skunk ran right across our path! We weren't expecting that!
