4th of July Weekend

july 4th pic5.gif
Friday morning, we went to Patoka to camp for the weekend. For some reason, it didn't really feel like the 4th of July...probably because we skipped the parade. Plus, fireworks aren't allowed at state parks. :( But, we still had a fun-filled holiday weekend. We spent time riding bikes, relaxing on Pappy's boat, swimming in the lake, and filling our bellies. The weather was wonderful, not scorching hot like most years.
When we arrived on Friday, I had the girls in their 4th of July outfits, but one look at the cousins, and I knew we needed to change! ;) We had to get a picture of them all in their coordinating shirts. Brody wanted nothing to do with pictures...and Brynna wasn't excited either. The other girls, especially baby Addison, were more cooperative.

This was just after our attempt at pictures...probably why Brynna wasn't very happy.
She was feeling better when she woke up.
Brynna's fever turned out to be more than teething. She ran a fever until Friday night. When Braylee asked to leave the playground to go back to the camper for a nap, I should have been suspicious. But, when she was sweating and snuggled under the covers claiming to be cold, I knew something was up. Sure enough, she ran a fever of 102.5 off and on all day. :( The girl who we are usually begging to go to bed at 10:30 was fast asleep at 8:30 that night...missing out on the campfire and smores. She slept until 9 the next morning!! The extra sleep paid off because she woke up with a smile and no fever.

Saturday, the kids were taking turns with the bat and ball. Brynna proved she could do it too!

In the afternoon, we went out on Pappy's boat.
Brynna fell asleep!
The girls were kissing each other through the windows. Time for bubbles. Even the little kids got to join in.

Due to the recent flooding, the beach was closed. :( Thankfully, Alex had packed the pool, so Sunday, the girls played in the pool while we prepared brunch and packed up.
Our church recently started new "small groups" to meet on Sunday evenings. Our small group came here yesterday evening for subs and chips. Our plan is to study the book "Withhold not Correction" by Bruce A. Ray since we are all young parents struggling with being consistent in our disciplining. Our group is comprised of 4 couples. We are the only couple not currently expecting another child, and we plan to keep it that way. ;) There were 7 kids here last night, so by February, the count will be up to 10. It will be fun to watch my friends grow, discuss baby names, and eventually hold their little darlings.

  1. Tera,
Your girls look adorable with their 4th of July get up on. Took everyones advice and started a blog, but I promise it isn't fancy. You can check it out if you want.

  2. Cute camping pics....how did you get them to "collage" like that? Were you able to do that on blogger or did you do it on your computer first?
